This Campus is situated in a privileged natural environment, in full contact with the Natural Park of the Bay of Cadiz and in the geographic centre of the municipalities that make up the Urban District of the Bay of Cadiz, with very important population centres within a radius of 20 Km., including Cadiz, Jerez, San Fernando, Chiclana, Puerto de Santa Maria and the municipality of Puerto Real. As a whole they add up to a population of more than 600,000 inhabitants

This UCA Campus brings together the highest concentration of Science and Technology centres. The industrial environment around it includes big enterprises related to the metal sector, automobile industry, electronics, aviation, naval and agriculture engineering. There is also an important industrial network of subsidiary businesses.

The Campus of Puerto Real can be accessed by public transport using the bus lines that take you directly to your centres from all towns in the area. It is strategically located in the heart of the Bay of Cadiz and next to the new bridge of the Constitution of 1812. The opening of the stop of RENFE in the Campus itself also allowed the continued access and of short duration from all the localities of the Bay and Jerez.

The Campus of Puerto Real currently has six university centers: School of Naval and Oceanic Engineering, School of Marine, Nautical and Radioelectronic Engineering, School of Engineering, Faculty of Sciences, Faculty of Education Sciences and Faculty of Marine and Environmental Sciences, in which a total of 22 degrees can be studied ascribed to the branches of knowledge of Sciences, Social and Legal Sciences and Engineering.

It is the only campus of the Spanish university system where you can take all degree and postgraduate university degrees related to the studies of the sea. Here, are located the scientific-technological specialties related to marine-maritime studies, as well as science degrees. Likewise, in Puerto Real the studies of Education Sciences are developed.

Since the 2014/15 academic year, the Campus is also home to the School of Engineering.
