University of Cádiz student Rubén Gómez Romero has been crowned Spanish University Champion in adapted swimming, following an outstanding performance at the 2026 Spanish University Swimming and Adapted Swimming Championship.
Competing as the University of Cádiz’s sole representative in adapted swimming, Gómez Romero secured first place in the 50-metre butterfly event, confirming his progression as one of the institution’s leading athletes in this discipline.
The championship, which brought together athletes from universities across Spain, once again highlighted the high competitive level of university sport and the growing prominence of adapted disciplines within the national university sports system.
This achievement marks another milestone in Gómez Romero’s sporting career, after previous podium finishes in national university competitions, and reinforces the University of Cádiz’s commitment to inclusive sport and high-performance student-athletes.
