UCA Selected as Host for the 2026 Spanish University Championships in Surfing, Sailing and Beach Volleyball

The University of Cádiz (UCA) has been chosen to organize three of the 2026 Spanish University Championships (CEU) in the coming months: surfing and parasurfing, sailing, and beach volleyball. These prestigious national university competitions will take place at three different locations between March and May 2026.

The first event, Surf and Parasurf, will be held at El Palmar Beach in Vejer de la Frontera from March 24 to 26. Next, the Sailing Championship will take place from April 14 to 17 at the facilities of Puerto Sherry in El Puerto de Santa María. Finally, the Beach Volleyball Championship is scheduled for May 5 and 6 at Playa Victoria in Cádiz.

The Sports Department of the UCA’s Vice-Rectorate for Students has taken charge of planning, managing and executing these competitions.

Under the coordination and supervision of the Spanish National Sports Council (CSD), the championships will be supported by the town councils of Vejer de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa María and Cádiz, host cities for the events; the Spanish Surfing Federation; and the Andalusian sailing and volleyball federations. The Government of Andalusia will also sponsor the event through the Andalusian Public Company for Tourism and Sports Management.

By hosting these three disciplines, the UCA reaffirms its commitment to the Association of Public Universities of Andalusia (AUPA) project. This initiative aims to bring all 32 sports disciplines included in the 2026 CEU to the Andalusian region, making it the primary multi-sport university event in Spain for the year.

This collaborative effort among Andalusian universities and institutions will ensure high-quality logistical and competitive coverage, leveraging inter-university and inter-institutional cooperation. Both the Government of Andalusia and all Andalusian public universities are strengthening their commitment to this initiative, with the University of Granada acting as overall coordinator for the CEU 2026.

The comprehensive event calendar also includes adapted categories such as swimming and surf, highlighting the Andalusian university community’s strong commitment to inclusion and integration through sport.

The ultimate goal of this Andalusian project goes beyond hosting high-level sporting competition: it seeks to promote education through sport, foster values such as fair play, health and social cohesion among the university youth, and project the excellence of public higher education in Andalusia across Spain.
