UCA Promotes University Participation in the 4th Cádiz Provincial Orienteering Circuit ‘Villa de Puerto Real Trophy’ 19 January 2026
UCA students and staff will benefit from special discounts to take part in this sporting event, to be held on 1 February
The University of Cádiz is strengthening its commitment to university sport and to promoting an active lifestyle within its academic community through its participation in the first event of the Provincial Foot Orienteering Circuit of Cádiz, part of the 4th Diputación de Cádiz Circuit – Villa de Puerto Real Trophy. The competition will take place on 1 February in the Almendral, Pinaleta and Los Barreros areas, within the municipality of Puerto Real.
Organised by the Surorientando Sports Club within the framework of the circuit promoted by the Provincial Council of Cádiz, the event is an individual foot orienteering competition open to both federated and non-federated athletes. It is particularly accessible to students and staff of the University of Cádiz. Members of the university community who hold a valid university sports card will be eligible for a 50% discount on the registration fee, provided they register as UCA participants via the official registration platform.
The event will be held using a recently updated map, with courses designed to suit different levels of experience and physical condition. This approach allows for broad participation, from beginners to more experienced orienteers. The programme includes non-competitive introductory categories, inclusive modalities for people with reduced mobility, and competitive age-group categories, promoting a formative, participatory and community-oriented experience.
The University of Cádiz particularly values the educational and health-promoting nature of this initiative, which encourages physical activity in a natural environment, environmental awareness and responsible sports practice. The event will feature electronic timing systems and will be conducted in accordance with the official regulations of the orienteering federations, ensuring safety and the proper running of the competition.
Registration will remain open via the official platform until the days leading up to the event. The organisers remind participants that taking part implies acceptance of the regulations and of the environmental protection rules governing the natural setting in which the activity takes place. This initiative forms part of the University of Cádiz’s broader commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles and facilitating access for university students to high-quality sporting activities integrated within the social and territorial context of the province.
