UCA Joins Global Entrepreneurship Week, a Worldwide Initiative to Promote Entrepreneurial Culture 14 November 2025
From 17 to 23 November, workshops, networking events and open activities will turn the University of Cádiz into a hub for discovering, creating and connecting ideas within the province’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The University of Cádiz is once again joining Global Entrepreneurship Week, an international initiative held simultaneously in more than 200 countries to promote creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial culture among the university community and the wider public. This will be the twelfth consecutive edition in which UCA takes part in this global event.
From 17 to 23 November 2025, the University of Cádiz will become a meeting space for those wishing to explore opportunities, validate ideas or boost their projects. The programme is organised by UCAEmprende, the service responsible for the university’s entrepreneurship programme, which has designed an open, diverse and free schedule of activities.
José Manuel Sánchez, UCA’s Director General for Entrepreneurship, emphasised that “for UCAEmprende, this week is not just a training programme but a statement of intent. UCA reaffirms its role as a key socioeconomic driver, encouraging students, academic staff, researchers and companies within the province’s entrepreneurial ecosystem to move from idea to action and strengthen collaborative ties. Our goal this year is clear: to generate the connections and mindset needed to face the challenges of the future.”
Each day will include workshops, talks, networking sessions and meetings with local stakeholders, delivered through short, dynamic and practical formats. The programme combines in-person activities across the different campuses and partner spaces. In Cádiz, in addition to the university campus, activities will take place at the Antiguos Depósitos de Tabaco, the Sala Imagina – CTE El Olivillo and Café Teatro Pay Pay. In Puerto Real, the events will be held at the Faculty of Marine and Environmental Sciences, while in Jerez and Algeciras the activities will take place on their respective university campuses.
UCAEmprende highlights the relevance of the event as a collective effort driven by the various agents of the province’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. In the words of José Manuel Sánchez, “UCA coordinates Global Entrepreneurship Week because it is an entrepreneurial university with an important role within the ecosystem. It has always served as a meeting point for different stakeholders, and we play a facilitating role in the development of activities.”
The programme includes 16 activities, eight of which are organised directly by the University of Cádiz. Among them is the event Cádiz.Red: Shaping the Future, now in its third edition as a key meeting point for the provincial entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem. It will provide a space for connection, hands-on learning and the creation of real opportunities, and will be held on Tuesday, 18 November at the Antiguos Depósitos de Tabaco in Cádiz, with more than 200 participants already registered.
Also notable is the twelfth edition of The Success of Failure, which will take place on 20 November at Café Teatro Pay-Pay. The event invites reflection on the value of failure as a natural part of the path to innovation. Four prominent figures from the business and entrepreneurial sectors—Alfonso Lechuga, Felipe Mozo, María Santos Moreno and Jorge Galindo—will share their experiences with projects that did not go as expected.
In addition, the University Entrepreneurship Meeting, to be held on 21 November, will be one of the week’s strategic events. Organised by the Andalusian Regional Ministry of University Affairs through Andalucía Emprende, in collaboration with UCA, it will bring together more than 150 people at the Constitution 1812 Building. According to Andrés Valverde, Secretary General of the Regional Ministry of University Affairs, Research and Innovation of the Andalusian Government, “it will be a meeting that brings together the ten Andalusian public universities—a point of connection between business, university and entrepreneurship.”
During the event, the regional award for the best university entrepreneurial proposal will be presented. In UCA’s case, the project representing the institution will be Local Vibes, an initiative that connects tourist accommodations with local experience providers, created by Natalia Crespo, Andrea Castaño and Ana Cristina González, graduates of the Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism and the Master’s Degree in Tourism Management at the University of Cádiz.
The programme is complemented by practical workshops on topics such as content creation for social media, updates in billing and invoicing regulations, artificial intelligence, leadership and public speaking. A guided visit to the entrepreneurship spaces at the Depósitos de Tabaco is also included.
Finally, José Manuel Sánchez highlighted that “Global Entrepreneurship Week is the result of extensive collaboration. It would not be possible without the support of the organisations that accompany and support us, and that are part of Cádiz.Red. We especially thank the involvement of the Institute for Development, Employment and Training of the Cádiz City Council, the Jerez and Costa Noroeste Rural Development Group, Andalucía Emprende, the Cádiz Provincial Council, Santander Universities, and the Chair of Internationalisation at the University of Cádiz, as well as the engagement of the various university campuses.”
Participation in all activities is free, with individual registration required for each event, and is open to the general public. Those interested in taking part can learn more about the programme and register at:
