UCA Full Professor Antonio Manuel Rodríguez-Chía, winner of the SEIO-Fundación BBVA 2022 Award

The work, shared with researchers from the US and TAU, is among the five Spanish contributions of high international impact in its third edition

The Spanish Society of Statistics and Operations Research (SEIO) and the BBVA Foundation have presented the Statistics and Operations Research Awards 2022, among the winners is the Professor of the Department of Statistics and Operations Research of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Cadiz, Antonio Manuel Rodríguez-Chía. The Director of the BBVA Foundation, Rafael Pardo, and the President of the SEIO, Begoña Vitoriano, presided over the ceremony at the Foundation’s headquarters in Madrid. Among the authorities was the President of Crue Universidades Españolas, Juan Romo.

The selected works, as explained by their promoters, have promoted advances with multiple applications in fields such as the analysis of cancer survival, the improvement of energy efficiency in the context of climate change, the optimisation of investments in the financial sector and the distribution of humanitarian aid after the impact of a natural disaster.
