The recognition highlights the Artificial Intelligence training and certification programme offered to academic and administrative staff.
The University of Cádiz has been recognized with the Best Initiative award on the AI Skills for Education platform for the training and certification opportunities in Artificial Intelligence (AI) offered in 2025 to its Teaching and Research Staff (PDI) and Technical, Management, Administrative and Service Staff (PTGAS).
This award underscores the UCA’s strategic commitment to developing AI competencies among its university community—a key area for the digital transformation of higher education and for adapting academic institutions to new technological environments.
AI Skills for Education is a training and certification platform developed by PUE Academy, designed to provide educational institutions with tools to train and certify both faculty and students in generative AI.
The initiative offers courses and certifications created in collaboration with leading international technology companies, including Microsoft, delivering up-to-date, structured training aligned with professional demands. The programme is considered an effective route to integrate AI competencies into the university educational ecosystem.
The platform’s online format allows for flexibility and customisation, enabling institutions to manage access independently and monitor the progress of their academic community. Learning pathways range from introductory levels to programmes oriented toward business applications and technical specialisation, adapting to diverse profiles and knowledge areas.
At the University of Cádiz, the programme has allowed PDI and PTGAS not only to receive specialised training in generative AI, but also to obtain official certifications validating these skills. The full training and certification programme is available here: https://aiskillseducation.pue.es/es/uca.
On 18 February, the University of Cádiz presented its success case at the PUE Academy Day, held at the Espacio Larra Laboratorio de Periodismo, Madrid. Representing the UCA, Juan Manuel Dodero, Vice-Rector for Transformation towards the Digital University, explained the institutional strategy that has enabled the implementation of this AI training programme across the university community.
The presentation was held alongside Sonia Marzo, National Skills Director AI at Microsoft, and Eric Fletcher, Director of PUE Academy, in a session focused on integrating AI competencies into education. The event brought together academic leaders and technology experts to discuss the impact of initiatives like this on modernising universities.
With this recognition, the University of Cádiz strengthens its position as an institution committed to teaching innovation, continuous professional skill development, and strategic integration of emerging technologies in higher education.
