The Universities of Cadiz and Southern Mississippi strengthen relations to facilitate student mobility

The rectors of the universities of Cadiz and Southern Mississippi (USM), Francisco Piniella and Gordon Cannon, respectively, have signed, together with the vice-rector of Internationalisation of the UCA, Rafael Jiménez Castañeda, the renewal of their relations in teaching and research with a General Collaboration Protocol and formalised with a specific agreement the student exchange between the two academic institutions in their Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.

The two institutions have been collaborating for years in terms of mobility, with the USM being part of the Erasmus project since 2017. Hundreds of students have come to Cadiz to learn the language during this time through the Centro Superior de Lenguas Modernas. The University of Southern Mississippi is especially renowned for its programmes in Polymer Science and Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Nursing, Biology and Psychology. It has a relevant Marine Science programme, with its own marine research vessel, and is therefore very interested in expanding its relations with the University of Cadiz and CEI-Mar for research and teaching cooperation in the marine-maritime field.
