First meeting between the Rector and the new Head of the Andalusian Secretariat General for Universities 29 January 2026
Casimiro Mantell receives Antonio Miguel Posadas at the Rectorate, the Secretary General for Research and Innovation of the Regional Ministry, who has recently assumed the functions of Secretary General for Universities
The Rector of the University of Cádiz, Casimiro Mantell, met on Thursday morning at the Rectorate with Antonio Miguel Posadas, Secretary General for Research and Innovation of the Regional Ministry of Universities, Research and Innovation of the Regional Government of Andalusia, who has recently assumed the responsibilities of the Andalusian Secretariat General for Universities.
This meeting represented the first official contact between the two institutional representatives since Posadas took on his new responsibilities in the university sector, although there had been previous professional interaction stemming from his role as Secretary General for Research. During the meeting, several research projects currently being developed by the University of Cádiz in collaboration with bodies of the Regional Government of Andalusia were discussed.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views on some of the key issues currently affecting the University of Cádiz. Among these, matters related to university funding and investment plans for the coming years were addressed, both of which are essential for the development of academic activity, research and knowledge transfer.
Casimiro Mantell and Antonio Miguel Posadas, who is a Professor of Physics at the University of Almería, agreed on the importance of maintaining a climate of institutional dialogue and cooperation between the University of Cádiz and the Regional Government of Andalusia, with the aim of continuing to strengthen the public university system.
