Acto solemne de investidura de José Chamizo como doctor Honoris Causa de la UCA

El Claustro de la Universidad de Cádiz ratificó el pasado mes de diciembre la propuesta de investidura de José Chamizo de la Rubia, como doctor Honoris Causa. El Consejo de Gobierno de la UCA aprobó la candidatura el pasado 26 de junio de 2018, a propuesta de la Facultad de Ciencias del Trabajo, en el marco del grado de Trabajo Social, aprobada por unanimidad por la Junta de Facultad y motivada por su intensa labor personal y profesional en el movimiento asociativo y como portavoz en las instituciones en defensa de los derechos humanos, de las personas más desfavorecidas, especialmente en la lucha contra la droga.

El sacerdote de Los Barrios, licenciado en Historia de la Iglesia por la Pontificia Universidad Gregoriana de Roma y en Historia Contemporánea por la Universidad de Granada y con cursos de Doctorado en la Universidad de Cádiz, fue defensor del Pueblo Andaluz (1996-2013), es Hijo Predilecto de Los Barrios, Medalla de Plata en Andalucía (1994), doctor Honoris Causa por la Universidad Pablo Olavide (2002) y ha recibido multitud de reconocimientos de entidades públicas y privadas en el ámbito nacional e internacional.
