The UCA inaugurates the ‘Preventor’ University Classroom at the Bahía de Algeciras Campus 29 abril 2026
The new space strengthens training, research and knowledge transfer in occupational risk prevention
The University of Cádiz has inaugurated the Preventor University Classroom, a joint initiative with Preventor S.L. aimed at promoting training, innovation and a culture of prevention in the workplace. The event took place in classroom A.3.12 of the School of Engineering of Algeciras (ETSIA), where this new academic facility is physically located, within the Bahía de Algeciras Campus.
The launch of the Preventor Classroom has been made possible through an existing agreement between both institutions, designed to strengthen links between the university environment and the professional sector of occupational risk prevention. This agreement, renewed in 2025, consolidates a strategic partnership focused on specialised training, knowledge transfer and the promotion of joint activities.
The Preventor Classroom has a dual mission: on the one hand, to contribute to the specialised training of undergraduate and postgraduate students, particularly those enrolled in the Master’s Degree in Occupational Risk Prevention at ETSIA; and on the other, to promote the dissemination of a preventive culture among professionals, companies and society as a whole.
Among the main lines of action of this new initiative are the organisation of courses, seminars, technical workshops and conferences; the promotion of curricular and extracurricular internships; the development of academic work related to prevention; and the continuous training of professionals in the sector.
In addition, the project aims to create a stable environment for collaboration between the university and industry, facilitating knowledge transfer and the development of key skills for employability.
Institutional and academic participation
The inauguration was attended by institutional and academic representatives from both organisations. Representing the University of Cádiz were the Deputy Director for Students and Infrastructure at ETSIA, Francisco Contreras; the Deputy Director for Research and Knowledge Transfer, María Jesús Jiménez Come; and the Vice-Rector for the Bahía de Algeciras Campus, María de la Luz Martín, among other academic representatives. Representing Preventor were its director, Sebastián Fernández López, and the Head of Talent, People and Culture, Sofía Rodríguez Romero.
The event also brought together the 17 students enrolled in the Master’s Degree in Occupational Risk Prevention, as well as part of the teaching staff, reinforcing the educational and participatory nature of the Classroom.
The Preventor Classroom is directed by María José Foncubierta Rodríguez, Associate Professor in the Department of Business Organisation, who will lead the development of the academic and knowledge transfer activities associated with this initiative.
Commitment to a culture of prevention
Preventor S.L. is an external prevention service accredited in the areas of Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics and Applied Psychosociology, and Occupational Medicine. The organisation promotes initiatives aimed at fostering healthy work environments and raising awareness of preventive culture, including events such as Safety Day, held every 28 April to mark the World Day for Safety and Health at Work.
The launch of the Preventor Classroom reinforces the commitment of both institutions to education, innovation and workplace well-being, in a context where risk prevention is becoming a strategic pillar in professional and business development.
